November is the month most often overlooked. Peak off season, where the aspens are bare, Lone Peak has a fresh coat of white, and the lifts are still parked. Town gets quiet.
We love it. It's the one stretch of the year when getting dressed isn't about a ski day or a trailhead. It's about the walk from the truck to dinner, a slow morning, a drive down the canyon. Clothes that look good standing still.
Here's what just came in, and how we'd wear it.
In a mountain town the coat is the outfit. Everything else is what people see when you take it off.
The Grizzly Jacket is the one we keep pulling off the rack. A western cut with real weight, made to throw over a sweater and forget about. Want a little more edge? The Grizzly Cowhide Jacket goes there. For something softer, the Saddle Up! Jacket has a ranch-wear shape that works with jeans and boots. Which is to say it works in Montana.
And yes, fringe. The Western Fringe Jacket is for anyone who's been waiting for an excuse. Keep it plain underneath and let it move.
A good sweater earns its keep in November. Layer it now, wear it under a shell in December, pull it on after a cold bluebird day in March.
A wild rag often refers to the big square scarf ranchers knot at the neck to keep the wind out. It works. It's also the easiest way to elevate a simple outfit.
Start with The Wild Rag, or go for the Grizzly Cowhide Wild Rag if you like a print. The Cashmere Bandana is the cozier take, small enough to tuck under a coat collar.
Thanksgiving dinner, holiday parties, a night out once the season gets going. There's a case for a skirt and tall boots in a ski town, and it's a good one.
The Fringe Midi Skirt keeps the western thread going. The Metallic Pleated Skirt is for when you want a little shine. Either one with the Cropped Rib Turtleneck and a long coat, and you're done.
Denim more your speed? The Cowboy Slim Jean is high-rise, slim through the leg and made for boots.
Men's outerwear came in heavy this year, in the best way. The Huntsman Oilskin Jacket is built for weather and looks better every season you wear it. The Gard Moleskin Jacket is softer and a touch dressier, good for dinner in town. Under either one, the Harvester Overshirt or the Huntsman Cardigan.
Small things, big difference.
